I never reblog crap like this. I just secretly like it it and move along to more important things. But, in light of everyone talking about how good or bad or so-so they’re 2012 was, here’s mine in 7 words. 2013 will be no different. Happy New Year, people.

It’s funny because he loves some of the tracks from the Cuban record. Almost like he has to play them everyday. I’ve got loads of video of him playing this one particular track. And he just goes crazy. He really likes the congas and he really likes weird alien sounds. When I would take him into the studio he would jam on the Moog.

OBVIOUS Thursday April 19th @ Mexico City (by brianbullets2010)

“The thing that I’ve noticed about this is I don’t think we’re doing anything out of tradition in Pittsburgh’s history.  I mean, my first club night when I came here was Steel City Jungle.  And Diesel Boy and that guy Ruffian and all those guys, they threw the best bass music parties in America.

And I feel like as Drum and bass somewhat fell off the global scene, as did our prevalence in it.  We’re just bringing it back.  It’s exactly the same kind of style. It’s funny ‘cause in terms of naming the night, one of the ideas was that we just call it Steel City Jungle again.”  Obvious’s Ryan Walsh

It’s partly the culture of gluttony in America,” says Amanda, one half of the West Coast label 100% Silk. “We turned it into rave culture so fast, and we turned ravers into these things no one wanted to be, and we consumed dance music so much that we actually made it gross for awhile.” But for whatever reason—the economy? The shitty political climate? The existential straitjacket we all seem to be wearing lately?—dance music is energizing again.

For some, the classicism and open Detroit reverence of L-Vis’ “Neon Dreams” didn’t register, as though someone had dropped Derrick May’s “Strings of Life” in the middle of a DeadMau5 party.
